Snagged

The path felt tighter, less to roam.

I saw myself, beyond the foam

of everyday. The diamond grid

held my reflection, tightly hid.

A sudden tightness, sharp and grim.

A dog's torn fur, snagged on the rim

of wire. A reminder, stark and clear.

The world confined, held prisoner here.

This metal mesh, a sharp divide,

where nothing truly can get inside.

Or get out free. A cold, hard line.

This moment, yours. This fate, not mine.
