The Parked Giant

It took the whole street.

Dawn caught its hood.

A beat-up pickup,

where it never should.

Mud-caked tires sunk

a little in the dew.

Rust bloomed like a sickness

in shades of angry blue.

Engine off. Doors locked.

It was just a shape.

A hard edge in the quiet,

no easy escape.
