Winter coat off, slung on the chair.

Felt the crisp edge.

A crumpled thing.

Two coffees, yes.

And that one pastry.

The date, a blur.

The cafe's name

faded to ghost.

Still the price.

A small, sharp sum.

For a moment

that didn't last.
