Counting Cracks

The hallway ceiling,

a familiar tiling.

I walk this floor,

and count them more.

Above the fire box,

new hairline shocks.

A tiny map it makes,

for goodness sakes.

Each crack I see,

marks time for me.

A hundred lines or so,

where did they go?
