That song again. Radio on.

The windows down, the sun.

We all knew the words by heart,

every single one.

Dust motes swam like little fish

in the light across the dash.

A yellow smear of morning,

gone in a sudden flash.

And singing out so loud,

all mixed up in the air,

I felt a great divide,

a silence I couldn't share.
