The Other Cup

The afternoon, a hazy blur,

Shared coffee cups, a gentle stir.

Their fingers met across the space,

A soft look on her smiling face.

My own cup cools, a lonely ring,

The quiet ache that memories bring.

No hand to touch, no shared delight,

Just empty air and fading light.
