A Moment of Pause

Driving through familiar streets,

a speed bump jolts the car,

as if to remind me,

that life has its way of slowing,

the unexpected thud pulls me back,

into the present, into this moment,

a reminder to breathe, to absorb,

every laugh, every tear,

as the world rushes ahead,

I feel the asphalt beneath, worn yet true,

a friend reminding me,

don't rush through what matters,

let the bumps and rumbles weave the path,

as I embrace the pause, the lingering

of seconds that cling like dust.
