Moments of Light

In the backyard, laughter spills like sunlight,

my daughter’s giggle dances through the trees,

the warm glow of her joy, infectious,

a chorus of voices beneath green canopies,

I stand, a witness, heart swelling with warmth,

a contrast to shadows that once filled my chest,

years of silence broken, unwrapped, and set free.

Her friends weave through the blades of grass,

each sound a spark igniting the afternoon,

I remember days wrapped in distant clouds,

searching for smiles, lost in the mist,

now here, I find the colors that I missed,

the air, rich with possibilities,

the weight of love pressing gently on my skin.
