Unexpected Showers

I knelt by the earth, digging fingers in soil,
When the spray burst forth, like a sudden recoil.
My jacket, once cherished, now soaked to the bone,
A cascade of laughter, the garden’s wild tone.
It caught me off guard, a laugh in the wet,
As I wiped away droplets, the sun’s warm regret.
And though I felt foolish, with each splash and swish,
The rhythm of water whispered, ‘What’s wrong with this wish?’
Like a child in the rain, I twirled in the mist,
Forgetting my worries, the chaos dismissed.
Each droplet a memory, a moment to keep,
When life’s surprises stir us from our sleep.
