In Between Classes

The silence hangs thick, a breath held too long,

a hallway stripped bare, echoing soft as a sigh,

a flickering light buzzes, a slow, steady song,

while classrooms cradle secrets, beneath watchful eyes.

Each step is a whisper, a shuffle on tiles,

where shadows stretch long like memories caught,

the chaos outside contrasts with the stillness that smiles,

a ghost town of thoughts in this space I've sought.
