Disconnection

In the corner of the room, a rotary phone stands,

Dust settling thick like forgotten plans.

I remember the dial, the click of each number,

Calling for someone, caught in a slumber.

Once it rang like a promise, a lifeline unbroken,

Now it sits silent, its voice left unspoken.

A time tethered close, but now feels so far,

In the echo of memories, I search for a star.
