Between Life and Death

Under the flickering lights of this cold concrete dome,

the engines hum softly, reminding me of home.

Each breath stretches time as I wait for the call,

in this liminal space, where the shadows crawl.

I count the arrivals, each one like a ghost,

a mechanical heartbeat, my heart in the host.

Hope and despair mingle like clouds in the sky,

I’m caught in this moment, unsure when to fly.
