Forgotten Subscriptions

The kitchen table’s burden swells, a storm,

a cascade of bills like a forgotten tune,

a service I barely know now sings a mournful form,

a charge that stings like the bite of a rude monsoon.

The email flashes, a blip, a sudden light,

a reminder, unwelcome, wrapped in careless days,

my coffee cools beside the dregs of night,

a half-empty cup reflects my own malaise.
