The dentist leans in, says, "Open wide,"
I feel the chill of metal, of truths I’ve tried to hide.
A mirror reflects what I dare not speak,
Anxieties sharp, but my smile looks weak.
Anesthesia lingers, dulls the edge of the pain,
But the sterile air holds whispers, a hint of disdain.
In this vulnerable moment, my secrets unfold,
Like pearls in a shell, in a story retold.
