Gaps in the Echo

An old text arrives, a name I once knew,
a laugh rings like bells, a memory askew.
The echoes of friendship, now faded and shy,
a bridge built of laughter, now left high and dry.
We danced through our youth, like leaves in a breeze,
now silence hangs heavy, a slow, bitter freeze.
I think of the moments, the warmth in your eyes,
but life’s tangled paths led us to different skies.
I’m left with the fragments of all that we were,
yet time flows like rivers, can’t pause or defer.
The friendship, a bracelet, now fraying at seams,
a testament lost in the pull of our dreams.
