Surface Impressions

Underneath the clutter, a formica gleams,

its surface alive with laughter’s lost beams.

Flecked and stained, it holds every cheer,

as echoes of meals linger close and near.

Scratches etch stories where memories thrived,

the crumbs of the past still somehow survived.

Wiping it down, each wipe brings a sigh,

a testament lingering in kitchen light’s eye.
