Gum's Aftertaste

A piece of gum from the depths of my bag,

a relic of youth, bright pink, slightly ragged.

Chewing on flavors, each bubble a burst,

reminds me of lunches, lost dreams interspersed.

Flavors turn rubbery, memories confined,

during high school lunches, what life left behind.

The taste lingers on, a bittersweet sheen,

a chew of nostalgia, forever unseen.
