Invisible Divisions

A weathered fence stands, tall in the sun,

wooden slats whisper, of childhood fun.

Paint peeling away, like memories shed,

it marks all the boundaries where silence has tread.

Yet laughter still echoes, across unseen lines,

where secrets are shared, and youthful heart shines.

Each post holds a tale, of what we cannot see,

the joys of connection, yet also a plea.

As the wind sways the leaves, I feel the divide,

between what is safe and what’s wild on the side.

But in that still moment, my heart learns to climb,

a fence can’t confine us, not even in time.
