Stillness

A walk leads to silence, the pavement feels cold,

a dead bird lies still, a story left untold.

Feathers tousled, a frail testament there,

life's fragile balance hanging in the air.

Caught in the moment, I breathe through the scene,

a feather in the crack, white dust on the green.

I kneel down to witness the end of a flight,

a sorrowful echo that shatters the light.

What did it dream, before falling so low?

What songs did it sing, in the wind's gentle flow?

I stand up, my heart heavy, but I carry it forth,

this reminder of life and the stillness of worth.
