The Solitude of Sunshine

Scrolling through photos, bright smiles on display,

shadows cast long on a lonely beach day.

I brought my own towel, sat close to the shore,

while laughter echoed like waves, begging for more.

A sunburnt memory, I conjure it still,

where I strolled through the sand, my heart feeling ill.

I wrapped up my secrets, tucked them away,

painting the story of a different play.
