Awakening from the Heat

A chill runs through as the fever folds,
a sigh escapes, warmth gently scolds.
Crumpled blanket, skin drenched in light,
awakened from dreams that twisted through night.
The weight of the world slips from my chest,
as sweat beads dry, it’s finally rest.
Body uncoils, like a spring at its end,
breaking the fever, I mend, I transcend.
The bell tolls softly, a signal to breathe,
where shadows once danced, now light weaves.
Eyes open wide, to the soft morning glow,
reminders of battles, the warmth left below.
