Off-Center

The jars are leaning toward the sink,

I gave it a push and I heard a clink.

The bubble in the level is pinned to the side,

showing the gap that I tried to hide.

I missed the timber and hit the air,

leaving a hole that is jagged and bare.

I ran my hand on the underside wood,

knowing I didn't do what I should.

A splinter of pine went deep in the skin,

a jagged little piece of the mess I’m in.
