New Release

The spine gives a sharp, dry pop

like a knuckle being cracked in a quiet room.

I bought it because it was clean,

no coffee rings or dog-eared pages.

I put my face into the center

and breathe in the scent of a factory.

It’s the smell of fresh bleach and heavy glue,

the kind of thing that hasn't had the time

to rot in a basement.

It feels like a door

that isn't locked yet.
