Boundary

The alley's blocked by an orange pylon

so I skirt the silver mesh of the yard.

A white plastic bag is snagged in the diamonds,

beating its thin ribs against the wind.

I reach out to steady myself

and the rusted twist at the top

bites deep into the meat of my hand.

The fence only knows what stays out.
