Faded Ticket

Someone posted a picture.

Us, from college.

You were there, squinting into the sun,

looking like you hadn’t figured anything out yet.

And I realized

it’s been ten years.

Ten years since we last spoke,

since that awkward silence on the park bench

felt too heavy to break.

I found a faded concert ticket stub

in an old coat pocket yesterday.

Thought of you.

And then I thought,

what would I even say?

It feels like another country now.
