Digits and Weight

The screen blinks—one flick, two flick,

a pulse of static, then it sticks.

Numbers dance and then settle cold,

a stranger staring back, untold.

The digits shift like shifting sands,

heavier than I had planned.

Not pounds, but something dense and stone,

a weight beneath the ribs, unknown.

I step away, the moment stays,

still buzzing with a silent haze.
