Floor Pop

It fell.

Just one kernel

of popcorn,

landing flat

on the cool kitchen tile.

A small, white thing

against the gray.

I looked around.

No one.

A quick bend,

a faster snatch.

Pop.

Dry,

a little dusty.

Just a bit of floor.

Just a quick hunger.

Nobody saw.

Nobody needed to.
