In Loving Memory

The 5:14 hasn't left the yard yet,

so I took the weight off my heels.

Harold G. Miller died in 1994,

according to the brass plate

bolted to the middle slat.

One screw is missing, and the metal

tilts toward the gravel.

He’s been holding up commuters

for thirty years, and I’m just

another coat brushing past his name.
