Missing Frames

The floorboards shake with a heavy beat,

from the party going on next door.

I’m looking at a calendar, trying to meet

a version of me from the year before.

Three years ago, a Friday night is blank,

no ink, no plans, just a square of white.

A memory that simply sank

like static on a screen in the middle of the night.
