The whole city feels a bit

The whole city feels a bit

like a backed-up sink today,

heavy with things that won't go.

Stood on the corner, waiting

for the light, just watching

a soggy hot dog bun

pushed against the grate.

White bread, bloated, tearing slow

in the oily puddle, refusing

to pass through. Just sat there,

a little island of trash

not quite drowning.

Something in me felt

the same.
