The bottle of cheap gin sits on the wood

The bottle of cheap gin sits on the wood,

half-gone and catching the afternoon glare.

I thought the noise was something in my blood,

but it was just the two of us standing there.

I saw you by the cereal today,

and for once I didn't turn the other way.

The silence in the kitchen is a gift,

now that I've finally let the anchor drift.
