Inside Click

The door slammed — not just shut,

a hard click sealed the rut.

Locked from the inside, final and fast,

a sound that echoed from the past.

I woke with the echo in my chest,

a slammed door, no rest.

That sharp snap of a latch,

a silence thicker than a match.

Behind it, nothing but a closing space,

a sudden end I can’t erase.
