Granular bite

Barefoot on the edge of day,

Sand grinds rough where my toes play.

Cold and sharp despite the sun,

Blinding gusts begin to run.

Grains press deep, a biting hush,

Skin and stone in whispered crush.

Horizon blurs, my eyes sting—

The beach is biting everything.
