After the last encore

The crowd dissolves, a fading roar,

But inside my skull, the high-pitched score—

An endless buzz that won’t unwind,

Like earbuds tangled, left behind.

The walls hum low, then pierce the night,

A ghost that clings despite the light.

I press my palms, then pull away,

The ringing’s here to stay, to stay.
