Nightly Ruckus

The walls are alive with their shouts,
each word a shard that cuts through the night,
a scream bursts forth, my heart skips and doubts,
chaos spills in, my sanity’s flight.
Cracked window rattles, a witness in place,
like sirens wailing, it echoes, it drums,
so close to the edge, this intimate space,
disrupted sleep as the shouting succumbs.
