The Weight of Walking Away

Fingers shake, the paper folds,

a letter folded tight with doubt.

The chair creaks in empty café,

coffee cools, no words spill out.

Relief is a tangled knot

woven with a thread of fear,

the weight of leaving behind

what held you so long near.

Sometimes quitting is a door

that opens wide, then closes fast,

a lesson learned in silence—

freedom only meant to last.
