Unforgiving Cold

Last night the radiator let out a sigh,

creaking and groaning, as if trying to fly.

With frost in the air creeping under the door,

I huddled in blankets, longing for warmth once more.

Whispers of laughter echo in my mind,

from nights with the heat where love intertwined.

Now silence settles, a cold breath in space,

as shadows creep closer, a chill's tight embrace.

I trace memories back to the crackling glow,

when warmth filled the room, and warmth filled our soul.

The radiator's absence, a stark, aching cue,

reminding me softly of what I once knew.
