First Taste of Rebellion

I can still feel the rush,

every heartbeat quickened,

a pack of gum, bright and bold,

slipped into my pocket,

easy as breath, like a dare,

not thinking of consequence,

only that electric thrill.

Those glossy wrappers,

shiny and crumpled,

flicking into the gutter,

like my fears, half-forgotten,

while laughter rang out,

my friends cheering at the bold,

a youthful rebellion,

a game played under fluorescent lights,

where innocence tangled with pride.
