Time Stands Still

The clock ticks loud in this sterile room,
as I watch the seconds like clouds full of gloom.
Anxieties ripple like waves on a shore,
each tick a reminder of what’s yet in store.
Staring at the wall, my thoughts twist and twine,
as shadows creep closer, their shapes intertwine.
What if the answers bring pain or regret?
What is the cost of this weight that I set?
Each crumpled paper beneath me bears weight,
a reminder of tests and the hands of fate.
I fidget and sigh, wrestling with dread,
while thoughts of the future dance in my head.
The air hangs thick as I cling to a prayer,
waiting for news, a glimpse of what’s fair.
