Growing Pains

Flickering pixels, a Facebook reminder,

a photo of us in that last summer glow.

Back when our laughter was bright and kinder,

now we’re just echoes in the ebb and flow.

In fading sunlight, our friendship, a thread,

crossed like paths in a tangle of days.

I scroll past your smile, the moments we wed,

without any words, I let silence blaze.

We drift like old leaves caught in the breeze,

what used to be vibrant now feels out of frame.

I miss you, but still, it’s a little too easy

to let go of names that don’t echo the same.
