Rearview Reflections

The sun dipped below the skyline, a golden smear

across the glass, where shadows twist and fade.

I caught a glimpse of time, unwelcome, unclear,

my face is a canvas, where memories invade.

The road unwinds behind me, like an unfinished thread,

each mile a soft echo of who I used to be,

there's a twinge in my heart, where dreams lie dead,

reflections ripple out like waves on a sea.

What did I leave behind, what truth's been cast?

A silent apology rides with me home,

I wonder if any of it’s meant to last,

or if it will vanish, like smoke in the foam.
