Unlikely Keepsakes

Sitting in silence, I clean out my seat,
find a dinosaur figurine, dust in its grin,
it’s absurd, a relic of childhood’s sweet heat,
why hold onto something that’s lost in the din?
Memories crowd, clashing with dust and time,
this tiny green creature, oddly still bright,
somewhere in me, it feels like a rhyme,
a fragment of joy in a world that feels tight.
I laugh at the thought, an oddity bound,
a piece of my past, wrapped in laughter and cheer,
so I leave it tucked safe, where its hope can be found,
a treasure, though silly, still here and still near.
