Unexpected Sparks

Sitting on the couch, my fingers brush close,

a static spark like a secret dose,

a thrill runs up with a tingling bite,

a connection forming in the dim evening light.

Outside, the storm brews, a furious show,

electric air crackles, a soft undertow,

yet in this moment, I feel a quick jolt,

like the universe pulling me in, a catapult.

I think of the moments, the charged exchanges,

a whisper of magic, in all of its ranges,

and how the soft fabric of life can ignite,

a crackle, a glimmer, a bright, brilliant night.

With every little shock, I’m reminded I’m here,

in this instant of chaos, I face down my fear,

a flicker of energy, a brief, shining arc—

it fades, but the memory, it lights up the dark.
