Words and Their Weight

In the thick silence after the slam,

my words became sharp, a flash of shame,

spit on the pavement, a bitter dam,

as echoes of anger clung to my name.

They glistened bright, a reckless stain,

each syllable spat was a loaded line,

now I gather the pieces of pain,

dragging behind me the weight of my crime.

I can’t take it back, can’t unspeak,

the moments lost, the wounds left raw,

what should’ve been said hangs, weak,

a truth buried in the hardest law.
