Letting Go

We sat on that cracked coffee mug,

stained and chipped, warmth barely held,

my voice tripped over fixes—

a tightrope stretched, too far to yell.

They laughed, but I saw the pain flash,

a quiet wound tucked deep inside,

no more heroes, just hands grasped,

a moment when all the comfort died.

So I pulled back, left the thread unspooled,

found peace in just sharing the weight,

let silence stretch like a mile,

a sigh, and I’ll simply wait.
