Day After Glance

Morning breaks through my window’s pane,

light spills on sheets, rumpled and tossed.

I roll to see yesterday’s stain,

a silent witness to what I lost.

The coffee cup sits, half-full, a ring,

a reminder of warmth that slipped away,

a heavy silence that refuses to sing,

with echoes of laughter that didn’t stay.

I gather my thoughts like scattered leaves,

tucking them under a blanket of gray,

each memory layered, each hope deceives,

in the quiet, I search for the words to say.
