Another Restart

Picked up my guitar, dust motes aglow,
drummer in my chest, but it won’t show,
each chord is a whisper, a half-baked thought,
like a promise unkept, each note overwrought.
I start, then I stop, the song goes to sleep,
a flicker of passion that’s starting to weep,
yet pages of scribbles, they line the floor,
echoes of something I could finish, or more.
Every attempt gets tangled in doubt,
my hands feel the weight of what life’s left out,
maybe tomorrow, I’ll strike the right key,
for now, it's just silence, just waiting for me.
