Surface Tension

The name is a shape under ice.

I see a flash of something white

but the surface is thick and sealed.

In the sink, the dishwater

circles the drain, a gray funnel

pulling at the scraps.

A soap bubble clings to the side,

quivering, a translucent dome

stretched over the dark.

Thinking is just this—

the tension of a thing

that won't quite break.
