Inventory of a Used-To-Be

The pocket of the coat was deep.

I found a secret I couldn't keep.

A yellow scrap of paper torn,

all jagged, soft, and travel-worn.

The soy milk and the heavy cream.

The ink is like a leaking seam.

The rain has made the blue letters wide.

There's nowhere left for us to hide.
