Walking past the new site where dreams rise tall

Walking past the new site where dreams rise tall,

a chain-link fence, dull and cold as the day,

the wind stirs the metal, a song of rattle and clang,

as I touch the bent wires, twisted and frayed.

What do these barriers hold, what do they keep?

A wall between my hopes and the world outside,

with every gust reminding me what I can’t reach,

I wonder how lines can divide—like whispers left unsaid.

Caught between spaces, that I once knew,

every thing changing while I stand still,

it feels like the ties that tether and bind,

as new paths lay waiting just beyond this fence.
